Terms and conditions

These terms apply to every order placed with Cambridge Dry Ice. By placing an order you agree to them. Please read them, and our safe handling guidance, before you order.

Last updated 11 October 2026

1. About these terms

Cambridge Dry Ice is a trading name of Seradiag Ltd. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Seradiag Ltd trading as Cambridge Dry Ice, and “you” means the person or business placing the order. A “consumer” is someone buying for purposes mostly outside their trade, business or profession; a “business customer” is anyone else. Where a term applies to only one of these, we say so.

These terms, together with the details shown at checkout and in your order confirmation, are the whole agreement between us for your order. Nothing in them affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

2. Ordering

When you place an order we will email you an acknowledgement. This is not acceptance. A contract is formed when we send you a dispatch confirmation or deliver the goods, whichever is earlier. You must check the details you enter, including the delivery address, postcode, date and any access notes.

We may decline or cancel an order, for example if an item is unavailable, a delivery postcode is outside our area, the delivery date cannot be met, or there is an error in the price. If we do, we will tell you and refund anything you have paid.

3. Prices and payment

Prices are shown excluding VAT. VAT at the current rate, and the delivery charge for your chosen option, are added and shown before you pay. The price you pay is the price shown in the final step of checkout.

Card payment is taken when you place the order and is processed by our payment provider, so we never see or store your full card details. Approved trade customers may be offered invoice terms; see section 9.

4. Weights and normal loss

Dry ice turns from solid to gas (sublimates) from the moment it is made, and cannot be stopped. Weights are stated for the product as packed and exclude packaging. We pack extra to allow for normal loss during the delivery option you choose, but the amount that arrives will depend on the journey, the weather and how long the parcel sits before it is opened. Normal sublimation is not a defect, and is not a reason for a refund by itself.

5. Delivery

  • We deliver to the areas and on the days shown at checkout. We do not currently deliver to Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, and some other postcodes may be excluded.
  • You choose a delivery date at checkout. We will aim to deliver on that date; times are estimates unless we have confirmed a window in writing. The order cut-off is 10:30am (UK time). Next-day delivery is by FedEx: the courier aims to deliver on the next working day, but this is an estimate and is not guaranteed. Same-day delivery is available Monday to Friday, within 40 miles of Cambridge, for orders placed by 10:30am.
  • Someone aged 18 or over must be available to receive the parcel and sign for it, and there must be a ventilated place to unpack and store it. Dry ice must not be left in a hot place, a sealed room or a vehicle cabin.
  • If delivery fails because no one is available or the address is wrong, the dry ice will continue to sublimate and may be unusable by the time of a second attempt. We may charge for redelivery, and we cannot refund the value of dry ice lost in this way.
  • Delivery is complete when the parcel is handed over at the address. The goods are at our risk until then, and at your risk afterwards.

Dry ice is classed as a dangerous good (UN1845, Class 9) for carriage, and is packed and labelled to the rules that apply to our delivery method. See our delivery and returns page for more detail.

6. Safe handling and your responsibilities

Dry ice is about −78.5 °C. It causes severe cold burns on contact and releases carbon dioxide gas, which can displace oxygen in enclosed spaces. When you order, you agree to:

  • read and follow our safe handling guidance, which comes with every order;
  • wear insulated gloves and eye protection, and use and store it only in well-ventilated spaces;
  • never seal it in an airtight container, and never carry it in the cabin of a vehicle;
  • keep it away from children and animals, and never swallow or serve it in a form that could be swallowed, including in drinks; and
  • follow the dangerous goods rules yourself if you send dry ice on to anyone else (see our shipping guidance).

You are responsible for how you use the goods once delivered, and for anyone else who uses them with your permission.

7. Cancellations, returns and refunds

Dry ice. Dry ice is made to order for your chosen date and deteriorates rapidly, so it cannot be returned and the 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 does not apply to it. You may cancel an order for dry ice free of charge before the cut-off we show at checkout for your delivery date; after that, we may already have produced and packed it.

Accessories. If you are a consumer you may cancel an order for accessories (such as gloves, boxes or scoops) within 14 days of receiving them, by telling us in writing. Return the items unused and in their original packaging within 14 days of telling us. We will refund the price of the items, and the standard delivery charge, within 14 days of receiving them back. You pay the cost of returning the items, unless they are faulty or not as described.

Faulty or mis-described goods. Your statutory rights are not affected by anything in this section. If goods are faulty or not as described, contact us and we will repair, replace or refund them as the law requires.

Refunds are made to the original payment method.

8. Problems with your order

If your order arrives late, damaged or short, please contact us as soon as you can and within 24 hours of delivery, with your order number and photographs of the parcel and contents. Keep the packaging, and ask the courier to note any damage or lateness when you sign. This lets us look into the problem while it can still be checked.

If the problem is our fault, we will replace the goods, send the missing quantity, or refund the affected part of the order, whichever is appropriate. If the order arrives more than 24 hours after the delivery date you chose, because of a cause on our side, we will refund the price of the dry ice. Late reports may be harder to resolve but do not affect your statutory rights.

9. Trade accounts and business customers

  • Approved trade customers may order on invoice. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, invoices are payable on the payment terms agreed when your account is approved.
  • If you pay late we may charge interest and compensation as allowed by the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
  • We may change or withdraw credit terms at any time, including if an invoice is overdue.
  • Your own terms of purchase do not apply to orders with us unless we agree to them in writing.
  • For business customers, section 7 (consumer cancellation of accessories) does not apply, and you must tell us of any shortage, damage or defect within 24 hours of delivery.

10. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including a consumer’s statutory rights.

Consumers. If we break these terms or are negligent, we are responsible for loss or damage that you suffer which is a foreseeable result. We are not responsible for loss that is not foreseeable, or for any business, trade or commercial loss.

Business customers. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, or indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability for any order is limited to the price paid for that order.

11. Events outside our control

We are not liable for delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including carbon dioxide or dry ice supply shortages, plant or equipment failure, severe weather, strikes, courier or road disruption, power loss, or government action. If this affects your order we will tell you promptly and offer a new delivery date or a refund. If the delay continues for more than 7 days, either of us may cancel the affected order and we will refund anything you paid for it.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force when you place an order is the one that applies to that order. Changes do not affect orders already placed.

13. Complaints and governing law

If you are unhappy with any part of your order or our service, contact us at the address below and we will try to put it right. These terms and any dispute about them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts there.
